Strengthening teamwork in the office environment often contributes to greater unity, productivity and employee satisfaction. Establishing team building goals, clarifying employee roles and responsibilities, holding regular team meetings and organizing social activities are effective ways to increase team cohesiveness.
Last May 17-18, 2014, the DOST-ARMM family had their yearly team building activity at Paradise Island, Garden City of Samal. The main objective of this activity is to bind the group so that they get to know each other and begin to have a sense of team.
Different games were prepared by the very energetic ICT Officer, Mr. Mon-em Abangad. The group was divided into four teams, namely: UNO, ROCKET, VIRGIN and FOREVER YOUNG. The employees had so much fun with the different games, like banana eating contest and sand castle making. All the teams received their prizes given by the very supportive Regional Secretary of DOST-ARMM, Ms. Myra M. Alih.
This team building will provide a chance for the team to participate together in an experience where everyone starts with an equal level of knowledge about the given task. This requires people to draw on and create team process skills to complete the task successfully. The challenge of a new experience also requires employees to collaborate and work together in close proximity, which helps to develop a relationship.
As what Andrew Carnegie said; “Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”
