On behalf of the entire DOST-ARMM family, I am pleased to introduce you the new DOST-ARMM and to offer my vision for this office this year and the years to come.
The history of DOST-ARMM is a narrative of response to society's call. The Department of Science and Technology in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has been in the forefront of fueling the region’s economic development through science and technology interventions. Created pursuant to Executive Order No. 425 on October 12, 1990 and further given expanded powers and authority by virtue of Executive Order No. 178 on February 17, 2003, DOST-ARMM assumes the mandate as the premier agency that takes central leadership, direction and coordination of all s & t efforts in the region
The DOST-ARMM is mandated to “provide central direction, leadership and coordination of all scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the results there from are utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefits of the people in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).” This is why every division, every unit, and every person in DOST-ARMM is cognizant of the significance and importance of every task performed individually and collectively. We at the DOST-ARMM are excited to see before our very eyes the mandate of our office in translating into tangible solutions to problems that have plagued our region for a long time.
For this administration under the leadership of ARMM Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman, The DOST-ARMM is focusing on moving forward through innovation, at the course of this term, the growth that we aspire to achieve through S&T should have crushed poverty, developed the region, and built up the critical mass of human resources needed by the times.
With your support and cooperation, I believe that we can succeed in our task of in becoming more relevant, efficient, and effective to our constituents. Indeed it will be a testament that the region’s S&T works!
